Privacy policy

The short version

Your messages, contacts, photos and backups are processed entirely inside your web browser, on your own computer. They are never sent to us or to anyone else. We couldn't read them even if we wanted to.

What happens when you use the app

  • When you open a backup or file, your browser reads it locally. The PDF is created on your computer and saved with your browser's normal download feature.
  • Nothing from the backup is uploaded. The site's Content Security Policy blocks the app from sending data to any server except our payment provider's checkout.
  • When you close the tab, the data the app loaded is gone from memory.

What we do collect

  • Payment details are collected by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, when you buy. Paddle receives your email address, payment information and country, and uses them under Paddle's privacy policy. We receive a record of the sale (email, amount, country and product) so we can help with receipts and refunds.
  • Basic server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) records standard request information, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure. These logs never contain message content.
  • Emails you send us are kept so we can answer you.

Local storage

If you buy a Court Pack, your browser stores a small note on your computer that your pass is active for 30 days. It contains no personal information.

Cookies and tracking

We don't use advertising cookies or third-party tracking scripts. Paddle's checkout may set cookies it needs to process your payment while the checkout window is open.

Children

The service isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you (normally only purchase records and emails) and ask us to delete it, unless we have to keep it for tax or legal reasons. Email hello@texttranscript.com.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
